Lighting the Christ Candle Do not be afraid, for see- I am bringing you good news of great joy. To us is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign for you: You will find the baby, wrapped in swaddling clothes, and lying in a manger. Tonight we light the Christ Candle to symbolize God’s promise fulfilled. For a Child has been born to us. A Son has been given to us. Authority rests upon his shoulders, and he is named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. *Hymn 119 Hark!
